Collinsville’s Mata makes seven 3-pointers in 62-59 girls basketball win over North Sand Mountain

COLLINSVILLE – Nayeli Mata managed 21 points, all on 3-pointers, to help the Collinsville Lady Panthers edge visiting North Sand Mountain 62-59 in girls basketball action on Thursday night.

Tyla Tatum netted19 points for the Lady Panthers (15-6), Rylee Tillery tallied 12 points on four treys. Sophia Wills finished with eight points.

Madison Renfro led the Lady Bison (17-11) with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Kayden Reyes tossed in 15 points. Ella Spurgin, Ashley Shrader and Kolbie Bobo each had six points. Kam Patterson and Raygen Weldon both finished with five points.

The two teams were tied after one at 14, but then Collinsville claimed a 31-24 advantage at halftime. The Lady Panthers maintained 52-45 edge after three quarters and held on in the fourth for the win.

In boys action, North Sand Mountain claimed a 75-63 victory over the Panthers despite a 30-point outing from Colton Wills.

Brody Helton topped the Bison (24-4) with 18 points. Konner Brown and Andrew Palmer both posted 10 points. Landon Keller came away with nine points. Kaden Brown delivered eight points. Nyle Poore and Kade Davis finished with seven and six points respectively.

Wills connected on a pair of treys for the Panthers (14-11). Gavin Lang sank three treys and had 11 points. Keaton DeBoard also netted 11 points. Shawn Stewart finished with five points.

Collinsville led 19-18 after a quarter, but the Bison surged out in front in the second to take a 37-26 halftime advantage. North Sand Mountain led 63-46 after three quarters.
