County Commission Meeting

The Cherokee County Commission has five positions open on boards for those who want to volunteer to serve their county. There are two positions coming open on the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority. These positions are for District 1 and District 2. These are 6 year terms.

There are also two positions to be filled on the Cherokee County Communications District (E-911 Board). These are 4 year terms. These positions are to be filled during the Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, February 13th. Resumes and letters for these positions should be submitted to the County Commission by close of business on February 8th.

The Commission has one position to be filled on the Cherokee County Water and Sewer Authority which is to be appointed during the Commission meeting on February 24th. This is a 6 year term. All persons who want to be considered for this Board appointment should submit a resume or letter to the commission no later than close of business February 22nd.

The Commission appointed Tammy East to fill a 6 year term on the Cherokee County Water and Sewer Board during the Commission meeting Monday afternoon.

The Commission declared 4 vehicles as surplus which include a two 2014 Ford sedans, a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, and a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. These vehicles are to sold at the next available public auction.

The Annual participation agreement with the Coosa Valley RC&D Council for the mowing, maintenance, and spraying of the County’s watershed dams with authorization for the Chairman to sign.

A resolution regarding the repayment of the 2014 General Obligation Warrant was approved and the Commission gave the Probate Judge authorization to hire a temporary employee in the Tag Office due to an extended illness of an employee pursuant to the rules of the employee handbook.  

The next regular meeting of the County Commission will be February 13th in the Commission Chambers at 10 a.m.
