Sand Rock boys hold off Cedar Bluff, advance to county title game against Warriors

CENTRE – The Sand Rock Wildcats rallied from an early deficit to take a 50-43 victory over Cedar Bluff in the Cherokee County Boys Basketball Tournament on Friday at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena.

Jacob StClair rang for 18 points to lead the Wildcats. Kaden Justice connected on a pair of 3-pointers and had 15 points. Ben Dale and Brian Giles both finished with five points.

MJ Adams topped the Tigers with 16 points, including a pair of treys. Aden Green added six points. Eli McFry and Caleb Tucker both finished with five points.

Sand Rock trailed 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but surged ahead to a 28-19 advantage at halftime. The Wildcats held a 40-35 edge at the end of three quarters.

Sand Rock will take on Cherokee County for the varsity boys tournament title on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Cherokee County 54, Spring Garden 35

CENTRE – Jack Amos connected on three 3-pointers and had a game-high 17 points in leading the Cherokee County Warriors to a 54-35 victory over Spring Garden in the Cherokee County Boys Basketball Tournament semifinals on Friday night.

Eli Martin added 13 points for the Warriors. Jaden Wilson delivered 11 points and Malachi Horton finished with seven points.

John and Jake Welsh finished with 10 and eight points respectively for the Panthers.

The Warriors jumped out to a 17-7 first-quarter advantage and held a 29-14 edge at halftime. Cherokee County extended its lead to 44-18 at the end of three quarters.
