Cedar Bluff boys earn overtime area basketball win at Coosa Christian

GADSDEN – MJ Adams scored a game-high 23 points, including eight in overtime, to lead the Cedar Bluff Tigers to a 70-58 area basketball victory at Coosa Christian on Tuesday.

Caleb Tucker tallied 13 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Tigers (11-7). Bucky Leek tossed in 11 points and Kade Browning finished with 10 points.

Eli Motes led the Conquerors with 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Jacoby Tucker added 13 points. Vincent Dupree delivered 11 points. Jaylen Jones finished with 10 points.

The game was close throughout. The Tigers held an early 12-10 advantage, but the two teams headed to the locker rooms tied at 23. They were tied at 36 after three quarters and 54 at the end of regulation.

Cedar Bluff went on a 16-4 run in overtime for the final.

The Cedar Bluff Tigers swept a pair of area basketball games at Coosa Christian on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers posted a 58-29 victory while the Tiger boys earned a 70-60 win in overtime in the nightcap.

In the girls game, Caley Bruce led the Lady Tigers (11-7) with 12 points in a 58-29 victory. Kylie Vadon and Janaya Higgins both rang for 11 points. Za’Niya Kyle finished with nine points.

Caitlin Cates topped the Lady Conquerors with 13 points. Ra’nyiah Dupree finished with seven points.

Cedar Bluff held an 11-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 26-14 advantage at halftime. The Lady Tigers built a 40-23 edge after three quarters.

Both Cedar Bluff teams compete in the Cherokee County Tournament beginning on Thursday at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena. Cedar Bluff’s boys take on Gaylesville on Thursday at 8 p.m. The Lady Tigers face Cherokee County on Friday at 7 p.m.
