The Class 1A, Region 7 high school football coaches recently met to select their All-Region team. Cedar Bluff (4-7) and Gaylesville (3-6) both had five selections on the squad.
Chosen from the Tigers were Austin Richardson, Kade Browning, Dylan Kinard, Bucky Leek and Hunter Jenkins. Eli McFry, Hunter Stallings, Hagen Stallings and Aden Green are Cedar Bluff honorable mention players.
Selected from the Trojans were Briley Mitchell, Keylon Higgins, Kyler Bradley, Tanner Eads and Bailey Glassco.
Region champion Valley Head (10-2) had the most selections, led by Most Valuable Player Eian Bain and Co-Coach of the Year Charles Hammon. The Tigers also had eight other selections in Hunter Robinson, Ethan Webb, Brandon Vasquez, Hernan Moreno, Noah Hulgan, Ben Johnson, Braden Busby and Brant Smith. Nate Bain, Raudel Segura, Carson Frost, Lennon Pike, Aiden Logan and Layne Hawkins are Valley Head honorable mention players.
Region runner-up Coosa Christian (9-5) had 10 selections, including Co-Defensive Player of the Year Clete O’Bryant, Kicker of the Year Jadan Burns. The Conquerors also had Co-Coach of the Year in Mark O’Bryant and Co-Assistant Coach of the Year in Teddy Whitmire.
Joining Clete O’Bryant and Burns from the Conquerors on the all-region team is Jy Mostella, Matthew Wright, Drake Albury, Jacoby Tucker, Dalton McGraw, Eli Motes and Dylan Reed.
Appalachian (5-6) is led by Co-Defensive Player of the Year Oliver Moody and Co-Assistant Coach of the Year Johnathan Beard. Also selected from the Eagles was Chris Heekin, Sean Curtis, Jaxon Hicks, Garrett Helms, Cameron Vick and Caydon Whittingdon. Honorable mention Eagles are Reid Murphree, Shawn Prestidge, Evan Wills and Jackson Baswell.
Offensive Player of the Year Bo Solley leads Decatur Heritage’s four selections. Jaxon Thomas, Savarius Evans and Nash Thomas also represent the Eagles (4-6). Daniel Taylor Jr., Ian Wickwire, Jonathan Bowling, Dylan Germany and Ben Abercrombie are honorable mention players.
Woodville (2-8) had three selections in Ace Weaver, Sam Peek and Steve Williams. Honorable mention Panthers are Rychard Rosas, Shane Hughes, Jayce Hucks, Issaih Vasquez and Landon Campbell.
