Sand Rock boys, girls improve to 6-0 in area basketball play with wins over Gaston

SAND ROCK – Kaden Justice tossed in 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Sand Rock Wildcats to a 62-52 area basketball win over visiting Gaston on Friday.

Ben Dale added 19 points and six boards for the Wildcats, who improved to 6-0 in area play and will host the upcoming area tournament. Bradley Jackson contributed 14 points and five boards. Zack Clanton came away with four points and six assists.

In girls action, Katelyn StClair sank five 3-pointers and had 29 points. She also had six steals and a pair of rebounds in leading the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats to a 69-17 victory.

Sherina Foster, Zoey Handy and Chloe Stephens each scored eight points for the Lady Wildcats, who also improved to 6-0 in area play. Foster hit a pair of 3-pointers. Handy and Stephens both had four rebounds, four steals and an assist.

Jacey Stephens finished with five points, four assists and three rebounds.

Sand Rock travels to Gadsden City on Tuesday.
