Collinsville sweeps Cedar Bluff in Saturday basketball action

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers swept Cedar Bluff in varsity basketball action on Saturday. The Panther boys posted a 49-41 victory, while the Lady Panthers earned a 49-23 win.

In the boys game, Collinsville went on an 18-4 first quarter run only to see Cedar Bluff rally to take a 24-23 lead at halftime. The Panthers surged back out in front after three quarters at 37-33, then held on in the fourth for the final.

Colton Wills collected 23 points to lead the Panthers. Gavin Lang sank four 3-pointers and had 16 points. Keaton DeBoard rang for eight points.

Isaac Bishop led Cedar Bluff with nine points. Austin Richardson added seven points. Aden Green, Kade Browning and Caleb Tucker each finished with five points.

In the girls game, Nayeli Mata sank four 3-pointers and had 19 points to lead the Lady Panthers. Tyla Tatum tallied 16 points, including a 7-of-9 performance from the free-throw line. Rylee Tillery finished with eight points, including a pair of treys.

Za’Niya Kyle led Cedar Bluff with five points. Kylie Vadon, Caley Bruce and Ciana Smith each finished with four points.

Collinsville claimed a 10-2 first-quarter advantage, then went on a 21-7 run in the second quarter to take a 31-9 edge at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 39-19 at the end of three quarters.
