Collinsville sweeps area basketball games at Gaston

GADSDEN – Colton Wills posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in leading the Collinsville Panthers to a 47-37 area boys basketball victory at Gaston on Friday.

Gavin Lang scored nine points for the Panthers, all on 3-pointers. Keaton DeBoard delivered eight points and Eli Griggs finished with six points.

Mica Merriman topped Gaston with 16 points. Will Bagley rang for 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Devon Green finished with seven points.

Gaston held a 15-12 halftime advantage before Collinsville rallied in the third quarter to take a 26-19 lead. The Panthers held on down the stretch for the final.

In the girls game, Collinsville claimed a 51-26 victory.

Tyla Tatum led the Lady Panthers with 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Gracie Griggs added nine points. Sophia Wills netted eight points. Nayeli Mata and Rylee Tillery both finished with six points. Tillery tallied her points on two treys.

Tracionna Jones and Brooklyn Merriman both scored six points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Merriman’s points came on a pair of 3-pointers.

Collinsville built a 16-9 first-quarter advantage and led 27-13 at halftime. The Lady Panthers built a 40-16 lead after three quarters.

Collinsville hosts Cedar Bluff on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.
