Leesburg Man Arrested, Charged with Rape and Aggravated Child Molestation

Back on December 13th, the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into allegations of rape, aggravated child molestation, and other offenses involving a child under the age of ten years.

The investigation was in response to a referral to law enforcement.

Detectives conducted interviews and also collected other relevant evidence – and on December 21st, issued warrants for the arrest of that Defendant – Brandon Matthew Vines, age 40, of Leesburg.

Detectives contacted authorities here in Cherokee County – and on December 22nd – Vines was arrested in Leesburg without incident by the Cherokee County (Alabama) Sheriff’s Office. 

Vines subsequently waived extradition, and he was then returned to Gordon County on December 28th.  He is lodged in the Gordon County Jail and charged with 3 counts of Rape, 2 counts of Aggravated Child Molestation, 2 counts of Aggravated Sodomy – and several other offenses.  The offenses are alleged to have occurred between 2019 and 2021 at a private residence in Gordon County.
