Valley Head sweeps Gaylesville in Christmas Tournament

GAYLESVILLE – The Gaylesville Trojans held a six-point lead at halftime against Valley Head in the Gaylesville Christmas Tournament on Wednesday, but the Tigers rallied in the second half to take a 74-63 victory.

Hunter Robinson led Valley Head with 26 points, including a 9-of-11 performance the free-throw line.

Eian Bain and Ethan Webb both netted 13 points. Lennon Pike finished with 12 points.

Kyler Bradley delivered 25 points to top Gaylesville. He connected on four 3-pointers. Kuper Bradley and Tanner Eads both tossed in 13 points. Kuper Bradley sank three treys. Braden Sharp finished with 10 points.

The Trojans took a 24-20 first-quarter lead and held a 38-32 advantage at halftime. Valley Head edged out in front 55-54 at the end of the third quarter, then went on a 19-9 run in the fourth for the final.

Gaylesville takes on Donoho in the losers bracket on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Valley Head battles Asbury in the winners bracket at 7 p.m.

Valley Head 62, Gaylesville 32

GAYLESVILLE – Valley Head jumped out to a 21-point first-quarter advantage and cruised to a 62-32 victory over host Gaylesville in the Gaylesville Christmas Tournament on Wednesday.

Emma Harriosn led the Lady Tigers with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Jenna McKenzie managed 15 points. Bella Lewis rang for 13 points and Gracie Black finished with seven points.

Shonda Epps topped the Lady Trojans with 15 points. Laney Coker contributed 10 points.

Valley Head held a 27-6 edge at the end of the first quarter and led 34-13 at halftime. The Lady Tigers were ahead 46-26 at the end of three quarters.

Valley Head faces Pleasant Valley on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Gaylesville takes on Pleasant Valley at 4 p.m.
