Spring Garden, Bremen girls advance to Cherokee Invitational championship

Spring Garden 69, Cherokee County 28

CEDAR BLUFF – Ace Austin led three Spring Garden girls in double figures with 16 points in the Lady Panthers’ 69-28 blowout of Cherokee County in the Alabama ONE Cherokee Invitational on Monday.

Chloe Rule collected 13 points for the Lady Panthers. Libby Brown tossed in 12 points. Kayley Kirk and Maggie Reedy both had seven points. Avery Steward connected on a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points.

Audrey Haygood led the Lady Warriors with 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Vivian Connell contributed eight points.

Spring Garden jumped out to a 21-7 advantage in the first quarter and led 45-12 at halftime. Spring Garden held a 66-19 edge at the end of three quarters.

Spring Garden battles Bremen, Ga., for the tournament championship on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Cherokee County faces Cedar Bluff in the third-place game at 3 p.m.

Bremen, Ga. 52, Cedar Bluff 33

CEDAR BLUFF – Mary House rang for a game-high 22 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in Bremen’s 52-33 victory over Cedar Bluff in the Alabama ONE Cherokee Invitational on Monday.

Jayda Smith added eight points. Danilyn Shoats finished with seven points.

Caley Bruce led Cedar Bluff with 10 points. Janaya Higgins had six points and Kylie Vadon finished with five points.

Bremen jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and held a 27-16 advantage at halftime. Cedar Bluff trailed 44-22 at the end of the third quarter.

Bremen battles Spring Garden for the tournament championship on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Cedar Bluff faces Cherokee County in the third-place game at 3 p.m.

Handley 61, Sand Rock 40

CEDAR BLUFF – Takeriauna Mosley netted 18 points to lead the Handley Lady Tigers to a 61-40 victory over Sand Rock in the Alabama ONE Cherokee Invitational on Monday.

Zanautika Smith added nine points. Amelia Greer tossed in eight points. Kristiana Tucker sank a pair of 3-pointers and had seven points. Takeira Tucker and Iyanna Norman both finished with six points.

Zoey Handy led Sand Rock with 17 points. Katelyn StClair connected on a pair of treys and had 12 points. Kennedy Henderson finished with six points.

Handley led at each of the quarter breaks. The Lady Tigers took a 12-10 lead into the second quarter and held a 29-18 advantage at halftime. Handley stretched its lead to 50-27 at the end of three quarters.

Handley takes on Gaylesville in the consolation bracket at noon on Tuesday. Sand Rock battles Talladega County Central at 9 a.m.

Gaylesville 40, Talladega County Central 20

CEDAR BLUFF – Shonda Epps scored 14 points in leading the Gaylesville Lady Trojans to a 40-20 win over Talladega County Central in the Alabama ONE Cherokee Invitational on Monday.

Laney Coker added seven points for Gaylesville. Emma Givens scored six and Aubrie Peek finished with five.

Jamiyah Johnson and Mahogani Evans both scored six apiece to lead Talladega County Central.

The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 13-4 first-quarter advantage and held a 15-12 edge at halftime. Gaylesville stretched its lead to 28-16 at the end of three quarters and went on a 12-4 run in the fourth for the final.

Gaylesville advances in the consolation bracket to face Handley at noon on Tuesday. Talladega County Central takes on Sand Rock at 9 a.m.
