Top-ranked Spring Garden girls sink 14 treys in rout of Cedar Bluff

CEDAR BLUFF – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers sank 14 3-pointers in a 91-16 area basketball rout at Cedar Bluff on Thursday.

Libby Brown connected on five of those treys and finished with 17 points for top-ranked Spring Garden (11-0, 4-0). She also had seven steals, four rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

Kayley Kirk contributed 15 points, three boards, three assists and two steals. Ace Austin added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, to go along with six assists, six steals, four rebounds and three blocks. Maggie Jarrett posted 12 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals, three assists and a block. Chloe Rule came away with 11 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and two blocks.

Avery Steward delivered nine points on three treys. Kristen Lewis tallied nine points, four steals, two rebounds, two blocks and an assist. Maggie Reedy finished with five points, five steals, three rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 33-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 56-4 edge at halftime.

Both teams compete in the Cherokee Invitational on Saturday at Cedar Bluff. Spring Garden takes on Sand Rock at 3 p.m. Cedar Bluff (6-2, 2-2) entertains Talladega County Central at 6 p.m.
