Collinsville girls hold off Valley Head; Panther boys win big

VALLEY HEAD – The Collinsville Lady Panthers held off Valley Head 53-49 in girls basketball action Friday evening.

Sophie Wills led the Lady Panthers with 14 points. Tyla Tatum tallied 13 points. Rylee Tillery and Nayeli Mata finished with 10 and eight points respectively. Both Tillery and Mata connected on a pair of 3-pointers.

Bella Lewis topped Valley Head with 15 points. Jenna McKenzie made a pair of treys and had 13 points. Gracie Black also had two 3-pointers and finished with eight points. Sophia Blair and Emma Harrison finished with seven and six points respectively.

Collinsville jumped out to a 16-4 first-quarter lead and held a 29-20 advantage at halftime, but Valley Head roared back to take a 41-40 edge heading into the fourth quarters. Collinsville outscored the Lady Tigers 13-8 in the fourth quarter for the final.

In boys action, Collinsville clobbered Valley Head by the final of 69-26.

Colton Wills came away with 25 points to lead the Panthers. Eli Griggs delivered 15 points. Dawson Cothran collected 12 points. Gavin Lang added 11 points. Fernando Padilla finished with six points.
