COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers swept an area basketball doubleheader with Gaston on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers posted a 66-19 victory, while the Panther boys earned a 52-43 win.
In the girls game, Tyla Tatum tallied 25 points, including four 3-pointers. Rylee Tillery connected on a pair of treys and had nine points. Nayeli Mata finished with eight points.
Tracionna Jones led Gaston with eight points.
The Lady Panthers went on a 26-0 first-quarter run and led 47-6 at halftime. They held a 60-8 advantage after three quarters.
In the boys game, Colton Wills topped the Panthers with 20 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Mason McAteer also managed a pair of treys and had eight points. Eli Griggs and Gavin Lang finished with seven and six points respectively.
Mica Merriman scored a game-high 30 points to lead Gaston. He sank three treys in the game. Devon Green added six points and Brock Bagley finished with five points.
Collinsville led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter and 27-16 at halftime. The Panthers held a 40-26 edge after three quarters.
Collinsville travels to Valley Head on Friday.
