Amos leads Warriors to first basketball win

CENTRE – Jack Amos connected on three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 15 points in leading the Cherokee County Warriors to their first basketball win of the season, a 46-41 victory over area rival White Plains on Tuesday.

Landon Caldwell contributed 12 points for the Warriors (1-2, 1-1). Malachi Horton and Cade Hopper both finished with five points.

Daniel Bussey led the Wildcats with 11 points, including three treys. ZJ Rosario scored eight points. Daniel Williams had seven points. Carter Johnson came away with six points, and Joshua Wheeler finished with five points.

White Plains led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, but the Warriors surged ahead at halftime 20-15. Cherokee County held a 29-28 edge after three quarters and held on down the stretch for the win.

Cherokee County hosts Alexandria on Thursday.
