Cedar Bluff sweeps Ashville in Monday basketball action

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff Tigers welcomed Ashville and former basketball coach Joe Carpenter to town on Monday evening. Carpenter is now helping his son Caleb coach the Bulldog boys.

The Tigers swept in varsity action. The girls earned a 37-23 victory, while the boys claimed a 59-42 win.

In the girls game, Kylie Vadon led Cedar Bluff (5-1) with 12 points. Caley Bruce and Za’Niya Kyle both finished with eight points.

Lydia Northam topped Ashville with seven points. Rachel St. John finished with six points.

The two teams were tied at five after the first quarter. Cedar Bluff held an 11-10 advantage at halftime. The Lady Tigers then went on a 17-1 third-quarter run to take a 28-11 lead.

In the boys game, Caleb Tucker sank a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 13 points to lead the Tigers (5-1). AJ Adams added 12 points. Aden Green and Kade Browning both netted six points. Eli McFry finished with five points.

J.B. Potter and Tristian Dickinson both scored 10 points for Ashville. Dalton Rice-Thompson connected on a pair of treys and had nine points. Trey Colley also had two 3-pointers for six points. Ryan Harris finished with five points.

Cedar Bluff jumped out to a 24-5 advantage after one. The Tigers held a 32-19 edge at halftime and led 48-29 at the end of three quarters.

Cedar Bluff hosts Woodville on Tuesday.
