Fyffe sweeps Collinsville in Tuesday basketball action

COLLINSVILLE – The Fyffe Red Devils swept a pair of varsity basketball games on Tuesday.

Cooper Cox, Eli Butts and Brady Willoughby each sank three treys in Fyffe’s boys’ 71-57 victory. In girls action, Fyffe earned a 51-30 decision.

Cox led the Red Devil boys with 23 points. Butts and Willoughby both tossed in 14 points. Jesse Matthews connected on a pair of treys and finished with 10 points. Carter Wilborn had five points.

Colton Wills topped Collinsville (2-2) with 21 points. Gavin Lang contributed nine points. Dawson Cothran collected eight points. Fernando Padilla finished with five points.

Fyffe held an 18-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 30-18 at halftime. The Red Devils took a 54-40 edge into the fourth quarter.

In the girls game, Emma Twilley topped the Lady Red Devils with 18 points. Emily Stephens added 11 points. Kendra Faye and Hadlee Powell finished with eight and seven points respectively.

Tyla Tatum connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points to lead the Lady Panthers (1-3). Sophia Wills had nine points.

Fyffe led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and surged out to a 27-18 advantage at halftime. The Lady Red Devils held a 39-24 edge at the end of three quarters.
