Just before 4 a.m. Thursday, Cherokee County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call about a subject trying to break into a house near the Goshen Community on highway 9 South. It was reported the person trying to break in, shot through the door. No one inside the home was injured during the incident.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene but by the time they arrived the perpetrator had left the area. They got enough information from the resident of the home they knew the vehicle used was a 95 Burgundy Chevrolet pickup truck. Investigators soon arrived on the scene to gather and process evidence.
On Friday afternoon, the Sheriff Department booked 49 year old Rodney Williams of a Piedmont address into the County Detention Center on charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
