Board of Education Meeting

The Cherokee County School Board met in regular session Wednesday with a busy agenda.

First on the list was to elect a new Board President and Vice President for the new fiscal year. Corey Colbert was elected to continue serving as President with Randall Davis as Vice President.

The Board approved the Contract with Lighthouse Counseling,  proposal from Kids First Education, and Professional Development.

The  School Resource Officer Contract was approved with the Sheriff’s Department, the County Commission and the Board of Education for another 4 year term.

Certain items of property were declared as surplus and will be sold:

Two requests for out of state travel was approved:

Lisa Bates and the Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball Teams to Compete in the Marlin Christmas Classic Tournament at Arnold High School in Panama City Beach, FL on December 27, 2022 – January 1, 2023 – Funded by: Basketball Account
2. Allison Neivel and the CMS Show Choir to attend a competition in Charlotte, NC on May 18-21, 2023 – Funded by: Local School Account.

Retirements
1. Cindy Gossett – 29.5 Years of Service in Cherokee County – Effective: January 1, 2023
2. Rita MohnKern – 17.5 Years of Service in Cherokee County – Effective: January 1, 2023.

Classified Transfers by Agreement:

Amy Justus from 8 hour/182 day CNP Assistan Manager at Sand Rock School to 7 hour/207 day McKinney Vento Homeless Liasion, effective November 10,2022.

Danny Gowens from Bus shop mechanic to head mechanic/shop foreman (same contract hours and days) effective January 1, 2023.

Classified Placements:

James Keith Hill, Bus ship Certified mechanic, effective November 10.2022.

Emilie Thompson, CNP Assistant Manager at Sand Rock School, effective November 10,2022.

Supplements:

Christ Forster, CCHS Ban Director-$1000-Funded by CCHS Band Boosters.

Johnny Amison, Cedar Bluff Bosys Golf Supplement-$2829.00

Remove Matthew Pharr as JV Soccer Coach $2094.00 and replace him with Richard Barton $1642.00.

Remove Miles Masters from the CCHS additional supplements $2000.00 funded by Baseball and add him as CCHS JV Baseball Coach, $1698.00 funded by the board.
