Sand Rock girls finish fourth, boys sixth in state cross country championships

OAKVILLE, Ala. – Sand Rock’s girls finished fourth and the boys finished sixth at the Class 1A-2A cross country state championships at Oakville Indian Mounds Park over the weekend.

Katelin Stiefel topped the Lady Wildcat runners with an 11th place finish following a time of 21:52.92. Anna King came in 32nd (23:19.92), followed by Christy Alred in 48th (24:04.69), Emma Swain in 56th (24:16.94), Abby King in 62nd (24:33.05), Lacie Crane in 92nd (26:35.19), Anna Macisanu in 113th (28:05.35), and Destiny Daniell in 126th (29:38.86).

Caleb Yoder took 10th overall in the boys race with a time of 17:50.41. Austin Yoder came in 36th (19:20.99), followed by Jack Watson in 40th (19:31.20), Ben Bruce in 44th (19:42.07), Elijah Wood in 51st (19:59.10), Wesley Childers in 67th (20:32.71), Brody Johnson in 68th (20:34.36), Bryant Yoder in 90th (21:29.09), Austin Daniell in 93rd (21:41.47), and Jaxon Bruce in 98th (21:51.94).

Cedar Bluff, Collinsville and Piedmont also had runners compete.

In the Class 1A-2A girls standings, Collinsville’s Andrea Hernandez came in 90th (26:27.80), followed by Cedar Bluff’s Cassandra Davis in 95th (26:45.92). In the Class 3A girls’ run, Piedmont’s Mattie Todd took 25th (21:53.46) and Claudia Dempsey was 73rd (24:10.84).

In Class 1A-2A boys, Cedar Bluff’s Austin Richardson took 39th (19:30.56) followed by Zyrese Wynn in 73rd (20:51.91). In Class 3A boys, Piedmont’s Chase Haynes finished 137th (24:27.05).
