Counselors Were Available Tuesday At Chattooga County High School

A single vehicle accident on Sunday Claimed the lives of Three Chattooga High School students. 

The names of those who passed away in the crash have been released by the Georgia State Patrol: 15-year-old Xavier Gray, 14-year-old Tydraevius Dozier, 16-year-old Zantivian Brown, and 54-year-old Otis James Tennard Jr. An additional young woman involved in the wreck was listed as being in critical condition. Chattooga High School Counseling posted on social media, ” “We are saddened to hear of the passing of our CHS students. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones. We will have counselors on site Tuesday morning to offer support.”

Chattooga County School Supt. Jared Hosmer said, “If any of our school community needs help during this trying time, please reach out to any school employee”.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes held a prayer vigil on Monday evening at the Chattooga High School football field.

Schools in the surrounding area have also been showing support for Chattooga High School.  The LaFayette Fellowship of Christian Athletes held a time of prayer and support for Chattooga High School on Monday.  The Polk County School District issued this statement, “Polk School District grieves with Chattooga High School. Many thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved, their faculty, students, and community”.
