Sand Rock boys finish first, girls second in Class 1A-2A, Section 3 cross country meet

SCOTTSBORO – The Sand Rock Wildcats won the Class 1A-2A, Section 3 cross country meet while the Lady Wildcats finished runner-up Thursday in Scottsboro. Both teams advance to next Saturday’s state meet in Moulton.

Caleb Yoder was the Wildcat boys’ top runner. He finished second overall with a time of 17:30.39, followed by Elijah Wood in third with a time of 17:32.66. Jack Watson came in ninth (17:59.56), followed by Ben Bruce in 10th (17:59.84), Austin Yoder in 12th (18:32.17), Wesley Childers in 20th (19:09.37), Brody Johnson in 26th (19:47.17), Austin Daniell in 34th (20:24.68), Jaxon Bruce in 37th (20:32.71), and Bryant Yoder in 41st (20:54.65).

Katelin Stiefel topped the girls’ overall field with a time of 22:00.24. Anna King was fifth (23:06.57) followed by Emma Swain in 10th (23:47.07), Christy Alred in 14th (24:08.15), Abby King in 23rd (25:23.63), Lacie Crane in 33rd (26:24.09), Anna Macisanu in 42nd (27:56.57), and Destiny Daniell in 50th (30:31.22).

Class 1A Cedar Bluff and Class 2A Collinsville also had runners in the sectional. Austin Richardson led the Tiger boys to a fifth-place finish with an 11th-place showing following a time of 18:07.40. Zyrese Wynn was 24th (19:34.99), followed by Zachary Jones in 25th (19:35.48), Jonas Brown in 40th (20:53.85), Caleb Tucker in 49th (21:40.34), Michael Johnson in 62nd (24:08.35), Isaac Bishop in 64th (24:45.64), Lathan Hoskey in 67th (25:06.10), and Jayden Davis in 73rd (26:44.49).

Leading the Lady Tiger runners to a sixth-place showing was Cassandra Davis, who finished 21st with a time of 24:48.29. Hayden Cannon came in 30th with a time of 26:04.30, followed by Skye Jordan in 37th (27:06.43), Caitlyn Sherrod in 46th (28:36.83), and Alexandria Welsh in 52nd (31:07.55).

Collinsville’s girls came in seventh. Andrea Hernandez topped the Lady Panther runners, finishing 22nd with a time of 25:02.50. Ana Juarez came in 39th with a time of 27:18.36, followed by Brayleigh Smith in 41st (27:56.05), Maribel Pedro in 47th (28:45.13), Lorenza Pedro in 48th (29:24.89), Keyra Aguilera in 49th (30:16.76), Carlee Davis in 51st (30:56.90), Carmmen Corona in 54th (31:39.97), Emily Salazar in 56th (35:51.68), and Arleth Morales in 58th (41:28.56).

Collinsville’s boys finished eighth in the meet. Jesus Francisco led the Panther boys with a 28th place showing and a time of 19:51.06. Silverio Ortiz was 42nd (21:08.51), followed by Alex Gaspar in 47th (21:37.84), Josue Juarez in 56th (22:34.85), Juan Francisco in 57th (22:35.21), Luis Miguel Felipe in 58th (23:04.69), Marcos Ramirez in 61st (23:59.73), Roberto Gallegos in 70th (25:56.75), and Nathan Winkler in 75th (33:58.72).
