New Garbage Truck For Centre

The Centre City Council approved the purchase of a new garbage truck for the sanitation department during its regular council meeting on Tuesday. The purchase price is $294,842.04 with an additional $10,500 approved for the purchase of 125 Garbage cans.

The Police Department will be getting an upgrade on its body cams. The council approved a 5 year contract with Axon Body Cams in the amount of $62,697.08. The new cameras are higher resolution and have many more features than the current cameras now in use, according to Chief Kirk Blankenship. He said his department is applying for a grant which could assist in paying for the new system.

At the previous Council meeting a new Ford F150 Super Crew truck was approved for the License Inspector in the amount of $39,220. However, the model specifications included a 6 cylinder engine which is not available so the City approved the purchase of the truck with an 8 cylinder engine for a total cost of $42,110.

$3500 was approved to purchase candy for the Halloween Trunk of Treat event hosted by the Police and Fire Departments on Saturday, October 29th.

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for November 8th with the planning session at 4 p.m and the meeting at 5.
