NWS Expands Area For Weather Threat

A line of showers and storms will move through the state today. A few storms could be severe with all hazards possible. It will also be a breezy day in general with southerly winds gusting as high as 30 mph away from/ahead of the line of storms, with a Wind Advisory in effect through 9 PM for the northern half of the state.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has expanded the area for the Severe Risk of strong thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. (See Attached Graphic)The threat includes tornadoes and strong to severe thunderstorms across the central Alabama Area.

Pay close attention to developing weather this afternoon and evening. Be sure you can monitor weather announcements in the event of severe weather development.
