Warriors move up a spot in latest ASWA football rankings

Coming off their dramatic 45-42 victory over Etowah on Friday, the Cherokee County Warriors moved up a spot to No. 8 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.

The Warriors (7-0) could secure the Region 6 title this Friday with a win over Ashville (2-6).

Things remained unchanged for Class 3A Piedmont (6-2) and Class 1A Spring Garden (8-1) this week. They maintained their No. 3 and No. 6 rankings respectively.

Piedmont clinched the Region 6 championship last week with its win over Geraldine. The Bulldogs travel to Hokes Bluff (4-4) this Friday. Spring Garden can also clinch the Region 6 title with a win at Ragland (6-3) this Friday.
