Another Round Of Sub Freezing Temps Forecast

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WARNING FOR TONIGHT, FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM CDT THURSDAY with Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 are expected. This cold system will impact most of central Alabama from 10 PM this evening to 9 AM CDT Thursday.

In light of the updated weather conditions, the public warming station in The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church (1400 Noble St, Anniston, AL 36201) will be extended through Friday, October 21st. The public warming station is currently open (10/19/22), and it will now remain open until Friday, October 21st at 7:00 AM (10/21/2022).

 Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold and To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
