Gaylesville makes it two in a row with 24-14 victory over Decatur Heritage

GAYLESVILLE – On a night in which Gaylesville named its field in honor of hall of fame coach Roy Knapp, the grandfather of current coach Brian Knapp, the Trojans capped off the festivities with a 24-14 over Class 1A, Region 7 opponent Decatur Heritage on Friday.

Keylon Higgins led the way for the Trojans (2-5, 2-3) with 281 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. Tanner Eads passed for 43 yards and a touchdown to Kyler Bradley. Bradley and Seth Lee both had interceptions on defense.

Briley Mitchell posted five tackles, two assists and a sack. Hunter Allmond added five tackles and defended a pass. Higgins also had a pair of tackles for loss.

Gaylesville looks to make it three wins in a row at home against Valley Head on Friday. Decatur Heritage (4-5, 2-4) travels to Colbert Heights.
