Lady Warriors earn first area volleyball title since 2005

CENTRE – The last time the Cherokee County Lady Warriors claimed an area volleyball championship was the birth year of current seniors KarLee Jolly and Ella Garmany (2005).

On Thursday, Jolly and Garmany helped end that drought.

Garmany posted 11 kills, 11 digs, four aces and two assists while Jolly delivered five digs as the Lady Warriors swept Ashville 25-5, 25-19, 25-15 to win the Class 4A, Area 11 title.

Macy Lea added 31 assists and three kills for the Lady Warriors (30-25). Raegan Garmany came away with nine kills. Vivian Connell contributed four kills, a block and a dig. Libby Curry came away with 10 digs, five aces and three kills. Nevaeh Gaidurgis collected nine kills, four blocks and two digs. Ava Haygood had two digs and an ace. Aubrey Abernathy also had an ace. Emilee Paul managed nine digs, two aces and an assist. Ellisan Givens finished with 15 digs.

The Lady Warriors will play Area 15 runner-up West Morgan in the North Super Regional on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
