There was some slight movement for area high school football teams in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, released early Wednesday morning.
Coming off a 41-12 victory at Cedar Bluff, Class 1A Spring Garden (5-1) moved up a spot to No. 7. The Panthers host Talladega County Central (0-5) on Friday.
Class 3A Piedmont (3-2) dropped two spots to No. 3 following its 30-28 near-comeback win over Class 4A, No. 4 Anniston on Thursday. Mars Hill Bible (5-1), which received 13 first-place votes, took over the top spot from the Bulldogs, who still received two first-place votes. Gordo (5-1) comes in at No. 2 and had three first-place votes. Piedmont plays at Westbrook Christian (4-1) on Thursday.
In Class 4A, the Cherokee County Warriors (5-1) hold steady at No. 9 following their 56-26 victory over Munford. The Warriors have this week off.
One other area team continued to receive votes for this week’s rankings: Class 2A Collinsville (4-1). The Panthers are coming off a 48-12 win at Gaston and will travel to top-ranked Fyffe (5-0) on Friday.
