A week after being on the outside looking in, the Cherokee County Warriors have re-entered the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.
Coming off a 49-15 victory at Hanceville, the Warriors (4-1) are back in the rankings at No. 9. They were ranked as high as eighth two weeks ago. The Warriors host Munford (3-1) for homecoming in non-region action on Friday.
Things remained unchanged for Class 3A Piedmont (3-1) and Class 1A Spring Garden (4-1). They remain at No. 1 and No. 8 in their respective classes this week. Piedmont hosts Class 4A, No. 5 Anniston (5-0) on Thursday. It’s the first meeting between those two schools since 1948. Spring Garden is at Cedar Bluff (3-2) on Friday.
One other area team received votes for this week’s poll: Class 2A Collinsville (3-1). The Panthers are coming off a 37-20 win over Sand Rock and will travel to Gaston (1-3) on Friday.
