We had reports of an 18 wheeler with a tanker trailer overturning Friday morning at approximately 4:20 on County Road 1 near County Road 3 – and that’s in front of the chicken houses owned by Miller Farms.  Floyd EMS, the Sand Rock Fire Department, and other emergency personnel, were all dispatched to the scene.   

Early reports indicated that a small leak may have been coming from the tanker, and Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers advised everyone not yet on the scene, to hold back until the the payload could be determined; he quickly contacted owners of the truck and was advised that the material was non-hazardous, and NOT a danger to anyone.

The driver was entrapped inside the vehicle – we have no information yet regarding his condition.

Motorists should avoid that area.
