Pair Arrested in Cave Spring on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Cave Spring Police arrested Shirley Ayers Simpson, 54, and Ronald Eugene Kelley, 59, both of Cedartown, this week after reports said they were found with a large amount of methamphetamine and marijuana during a traffic stop in Cave Spring.

Reports say officers pulled Simpson over on Craven Street after they had noticed her failing to maintain her lane of travel.  A search of that vehicle resulted in the officers finding a metal container containing marijuana, and two bags containing 28.2 grams of meth.

Nether Simpson nor Kelley claimed ownership of the drugs.

Both were taken into custody at the scene and Simpson is charged with possession of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, open container violation and failure to maintain lane, while Kelley was charged with the possession of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute – and the possession of marijuana.
