Coming off their 50-7 victory over Good Hope, the Cherokee County Warriors moved up two spots to No. 8 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.
Cherokee County improved to the 3-0 for the first time since the 2009 state championship season. The Warriors travel to state runner-up and fifth-ranked Oneonta (3-0) this Friday.
While the Warriors moved up in the rankings, Spring Garden took a slide in the Class 1A poll following its 9-0 loss to Wadley last Friday. The Panthers dropped six spots to No. 8 this week. The Panthers (2-1) travel to Victory Christian (1-2) on Friday.
Staying in Class 1A, Cedar Bluff (2-1) picked up a few votes this week in the poll. The Tigers are coming off a 48-20 victory over Woodville and will travel to Gaylesville (0-2) on Friday.
In Class 3A, Piedmont (1-1) remained the top dog after receiving 15 first-place votes. The Bulldogs, who are coming off a 40-7 win over Sylvania, host Plainview (0-2) on Friday.
