Motorists Should Exercise Caution Due to Temporary Traffic Flow Changes in Centre

TRAFFIC NOTE / LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Motorists should exercise extra caution, especially over the holiday weekend, due to a recent change in traffic flow in Cherokee County.

An accident involving a log truck Tuesday (August 30th) morning took out both poles supporting the red lights on Alabama Highway 9 at the Northwood Drive intersection leading to removal of that entire system, and causing Northwood Drive to close down completely for an undetermined amount of time.  Barricades are in place.  Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship informed us on Wednesday morning that a new light has been ordered – but will take several weeks to arrive.

Slow down in and around the affected area – and exercise caution when approaching from either direction.

Also be watchful where on-going construction is taking place along West Main Street, in front of the Centre Walmart
