Murder Trial Set for August 22nd in Chattooga County, Georgia Case

A date has been set for the trial for a Chattooga County woman accused of killing her husband.  Renee Lanham, 53, will be tried for murder later in the month (August, 2022) in connection with the death of her husband, Edward Earl Lanham.  She stands accused of shooting and killing her 75 year old husband at their residence on Butler-Dairy Road.

At the time, Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told media outlets, “Mr. Lanham was shot to death in what was made to look like a burglary,” adding that the evidence lead his investigators to believe that Renee Lanham was the person who planned the murder of her husband and saw to it that those plans were followed through.

A statement, issued by members of the Lanham family, said “(Edward Lanham) was shot while sleeping in his bed.  On February 8th, 2018 his wife, Susan Renee Lanham, was arrested and charged with his murder.  She is currently out on bond.  The family has waited almost five years for justice to be served – and, we finally have a trial date set for August 22nd of 2022.”

The family says they want to get the word out about that upcoming trial, which will be held in Chattooga County Superior Court.
