SPRING GARDEN – The Week 0 high school football opener between Sand Rock and Spring Garden is now back on for Thursday, Aug. 18, according to Spring Garden head coach Jason Howard.

The game was moved over the weekend to allow an extra day for new lighting to be installed at Panther Stadium in Spring Garden. Howard said on Monday morning he was assured the lights would be installed and ready by the original Thursday, Aug. 18 game date.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WEIS radio (990 AM, 100.5 FM).

The Panthers come into the contest ranked No. 2 in Class 1A, their highest ranking in school history. They went 12-1 in Class 2A last season.

Class 2A Sand Rock is coming off a 7-4 season in 2021. The Wildcats are under the guidance of third-year coach Alan Heath.

The Panthers won a thrilling 29-28 game at Sand Rock last season.
