The Alabama Department of Transportation is advising all motorists the intersection crossover on U.S. 411 at Walmart in Centre, is closed TODAY (Tuesday, August 2nd) – and it’ll remain closed overnight –  re-opening on Wednesday afternoon.  All left turns and crossing from the side streets will be prohibited during this time, to allow contractors to replace drainage, and repave the crossover. 

North Region Public Information Officer Seth Burkett says the $1.2 million project to improve safety by offsetting left turn lanes at the intersection began back in June.  The projected completion date for the stretch of highway on 411 and Chesnut Bypass   is anticipated for either late summer or early fall of this year (2022).

Bear in mind work on the project depends upon the weather situation and due to any threat of rain, work dates could be re-scheduled.
