A 58 year old woman was fatally injured, in a single-vehicle accident taking place just after 6:20pm Thursday in Etowah County.
The victim, identified as Vannieca Barnes of a Gallant address was reportedly driving a 2015 Nissan Mazda when she apparently attempted to avoid something in the road, lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, with the vehicle rolling over and then striking a tree. The accident occurred on Old Gallant Road near the Intersection with Country Creek Road.
That wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
