Centre City Park Getting GaGa Ball Pit

The Centre City Council approved the construction of a GaGa Ball Pit at the City Park as part of an Eagle Scout project by T.J. Baker. He was present at the Council meeting Tuesday afternoon explaining the work and asking the Council for permission to build it.

Two other Boy Scouts were present asking for permission to place a Flag Retirement Box in the City Hall with instructions about Flag retirement. This project is by Domnique Clausen. The other project is by Ross Smith who ask the Council to approve him to build a swing for the Park. The Council approved all projects. The three Scouts are members of Troop 247 in Centre under the direction of Scout Master Bubba Crabtree.

The Council approved an ad expenditure of $4500 with Crappie USA, $13828 for 4 sets of turnout gear for the Fire Department, fire hose in the amount of $1490, and $1748 for a washer and dryer set for the fire department to wash their turnout gear. The fire hose and washer and dryer is to be paid for with America Rescue Funds and the turnout gear being a budgeted expense.

The Council approved repairs and updates at the Hatcher Building which is being paid for with grant money. It was approved for the City to advertise for sealed bids for sod, tree removal, and irrigation system for the City Park.

The next City Council Meeting is set for August 9th at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
