Strong Storms Rumble Through the Area on Tuesday Morning / Damage Reported in Cave Spring

A storm front that barreled through Cherokee County overnight – and throughout the early morning hours of Tuesday, resulted in a number of trees being down across the area – many requiring local fire departments, and emergency crews, to go into action and remove them from across roadways during heavy rainfall.

Here at the WEIS Radio studios, we received a total of 1.14 inches of rainfall in a very brief period of time.  Thus far, we’ve had no reports of any significant damage occurring within the county, or anyone being injured.

Also high winds and heavy rainfall caused damage to a store just across the state line in Cave Spring, Georgia; a tree that was toppled by the wind fell across a pickup truck then struck the Cave Spring Market building, causing extensive damage.

Fortunately no one was hurt.
