Centre Fire Department Busy Lately

According to the Centre Fire Department Facebook page, Centre units provided Sand Rock and Leesburg firefighters with assistance on a mobile home fire taking place on County Road 7.  That structure, which was reportedly vacant, suffered heavy fire damage to the living area and heavy smoke damage throughout.  The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Centre Police Department responded to the scene as well.

Centre firefighters, along with units from the Spring Creek and Ellisville departments and Floyd EMS responded to a report of a structure fire at 9035 Hokes Bluff Road just before 9:50am.  That blaze was quickly determined to be a grease fire in the kitchen and quick action by those responding managed to limited fire and water damage to the kitchen itself – with smoke being removed from the residence by a ventilation fan.  Fortunately, no one was hurt.  The Centre Police Department also responded to the scene.
