Big Rig Hauling Beer Overturns on I-59 in Etowah County Friday Morning / UPDATED

Emergency crews responded to a report of an 18-wheeler crashing in Etowah County on Friday morning.

According to the Decatur Trooper Post at around 5:30 a 2020 International driven by a male subject out of Oxford, Mississippi, overturned on I-59 south of the 181/Attalla exit.

Reportedly, when the vehicle overturned, the payload – consisting of beer – was sent flying across the median.  Emergency crews, along with Alabama State Troopers, immediately responded and a stretch of roadway had to be closed while that accident was being investigated – with cleanup crews working to clear the spill.  The roadway was cleared, and re-opened at 12:30pm.

The driver of the rig had to be transported for treatment of injuries sustained in that wreck; however, no additional information was available.
