Please use caution on the Highway 411/Chesnut Bypass – as well as West Main Street in front of Walmart in Centre due to on-going road construction.
Work crews with Wiregrass Construction have begun re-surfacing the bypass – from Cedar Bluff Road to West Main Street/411 – a stretch of a just over two miles, and the project should take around two months to complete – that, according to Seth Burkett, the Public Information Officer for the North Division of the Alabama Department of Transportation. Burkett also informed WEIS Radio News there will be an additional paving project on the East Bypass later this summer.
Wiregrass is also working along the median in front of Walmart making renovations to that stretch of roadway. Burkett said that the project valued at approximately two million dollars – is a “daytime” job with crews working from 6:00am to 6:00pm daily.
Expect delays – traffic will be congested at times.
Motorists should slow down and exercise extreme caution in the work zones OR take another route if at all possible.
