Sgt. Chris Vaughn Honored at Cedar Bluff Town Council Meeting

It was an emotional time for the town of Cedar Bluff tonight, as the council voted on a motion to retire Badge 202 and honor Sgt. Chris Vaughn at the council meeting.

Police Chief Brody Moses reminisced of meeting Vaughn at police academy; how they use to talk about home life and even coached ball together for their children. He said it was a little different coming to work with out him being there. “He’s the reason most of us are here.  That’s the reason I came over here to work (Cedar Bluff PD).” Moses said.

Moses presented the family with a plaque from the town and the police department in honor of his service to the community and his family.

Vaughn’s wife, two sons, parents, and brother were in attendance, along with his sidekick, Jagger.

K-9 Officer Jagger was also presented with a plaque in honor of his service with the Cedar Bluff Police Department and new chapter living at home with the family.

There will be a memorial run for Vaughn at the Cedar Bluff Liberty Day on Saturday July 2nd. You can find out more details about the run on the Cedar Bluff Liberty Day Facebook page.

Sgt. Vaughn passed away on April 1st after suffering a medical issue while on duty on Highway 35.  For the complete story, click here.
