Man Loses Control of Dump Truck and Jumps from Vehicle; Later Dies of Injuries Sustained

A single-vehicle crash that occurred just after 1:00pm Monday, has claimed the life of an Oxford man.

Deven Lancaster, age 27, was fatally injured when the 1984 Mack dump truck he was driving left the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned in a creek.  Lancaster had jumped from his vehicle while it was in motion and was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.  The crash took place on Cleburne County 13 approximately two miles south of Heflin.

Nothing further is being made available at this time; troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
