Update on Piedmont Woman Who Drove Commercial Truck into Mobile Home

A press release from the Piedmont Police Department was released Tuesday afternoon with an update to a story WEIS Radio brought you early Monday morning. On May 30th, Rhonda D Young, age 56 from Piedmont was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and two counts of Attempted Assault 1st after crashing her truck into the front of a mobile home.

Rhonda was involved in a domestic argument with her boyfriend, Marcus Garrett, and left the residence in her International Commercial Semi Truck. Rhonda returned to the residence and crashed her truck into the front door of the mobile home where Marcus was standing on the front step of the porch. Marcus was thrown back into the residence and suffered an injury to his leg and ankle.

Inside the mobile home was the victim’s known to be step daughter and her child. The mother of the step daughter lived a short distance away and was called by her daughter about the incident.  When the mother arrived at the residence to check on her daughter, it was reported that Rhonda “came at her” and grabbed her by the throat. The injuries that Rhonda received came from a fight occurring after she grabbed the other female.

Rhonda was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then held at the Piedmont City Jail until transport to the Calhoun County Jail where the District Court set a total bond of $53,000 with a Preliminary Hearing date set for June 27, 2022.
