In her monthly newsletter, Alabama Governor Kay Ivy announced that we have hit our lowest unemployment rate in the state’s history at 2.8%.
Gov. Ivy stated that we have the most people working than ever before, record high wages, and that we just came off one of the best years in the books in terms of new investments and job creation.
She also mentioned that Alabama was the fourth most searched for state, according to the U.S. Travel Association and that our tourism industry was booming, which was encouraging as we head into the summer season. Last year, Alabama saw 47% more tourists vacationing here than in the previous year, and those tourists spent close to a whopping $20 billion.
In her closing statement, Gov. Ivy encouraged Alabamians to never forget the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard the liberties our wonderful county was founded on, and that we should never ever take those for granted.
