  1. Summer Reading Program: “Oceans of Possibilities” begins June 3 – July 15. Sign up on or after Friday, June 3, and get a reading folder. Read books and earn prizes. Check out our lineup of performers on our website and Facebook page, or pop in the library and pick up a flyer.

  • June 3: “Doc Magic’s Big Ocean Adventure” with Doctor Magic Balloons
  • June 10: “Puppets & Laughter on the High Seas” with Gene Cordova
  • June 17: “Oceans of Possibilities with sound waves, light waves, tidal waves, and much more!” with Mr. Bond & the Science Guys
  • June 24: “Oceanography” With Didgeridoo Down Under

Adult Program: 12:00 pm- Bring your lunch! We will provide drinks and dessert while you enjoy an hour of stories about forgotten places in Alabama.

  1. “New” Summer Drawing Workshop with Kim Serio
  • Fridays June 10 – July 15 from 2:30–3:30 pm. Call the library to sign up. You will need a pencil, sketch or drawing paper, graph paper & ruler.
  1. Medical Monday, 12:00 pm: Please join us for our health lunch talks presented by health care professionals. Bring your lunch, and we will provide drinks and dessert.
  • June 13: As Close As Family with Melanie Pell, Managing Partner, will be talking about Dementia. She will discuss the disease and the effects on the mind and body and how they can assist the individuals in staying safe in the comforts of their home.
  1. Green Bag: Green Bag meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month in the Library Conference Room at 12 pm. Join us for this lunch series that focuses on gardening. These are one-hour lectures presented by Master Gardeners and other professionals. Bring your lunch! We’ll provide the drinks and dessert.
    • June 16: Wildlife Damage Management Around the Home & Garden with Norm Haley, Alabama Cooperative Extension
  1. Wi-Fi Hotspots: Patrons in good standing can check out a hotspot for one week. CCPL will be participating in the Alabama Hotspot Lending Program. This project was made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Alabama Public Library Service.   2. Code Club: Weekly meetings Tuesdays at 3:30 for ages 10-18. 

Kids learn programming skills through a series of tutorials and projects. They use these skills to build websites, video games, phone apps, animations, etc. In addition, they learn how to become better problem solvers and critical thinkers.             

  1. Storytime: Join Jinx and special guests for songs, crafts, and reading fun. Space is limited each week; call 256-927-5838 to reserve a spot. Summer Storytime begins June 7. Tuesdays in June at 9:30.
  2. Sew Joyful Quilters: Meet with the quilters each Thursday at 10 am to discuss quilt designs and techniques.
  3. Chair Yoga: Join instructor Linda Abernathy and Library Director Dana Carroll on June 10 & 17 at 11:45 for a 15-minute stress-relieving chair yoga session.
  4. Teen Book Club: Rather Be Reading

Teens ages 13-18 will meet on Monday, May 16, at 3:30 to discuss their book pick of the month.

  • May’s book: Words Composed of Sea and Sky by Erica George
  1. Reading Around Book Club meets at 11:00 am on the first Monday of each month.
  2. Kids & Kin: A Statewide supportive program for anyone caring for relative’s children. Everyone is welcome! Contact Larinda Garrett at 334-465-0099 for more information.

  • June 14 & 28: Legends of Alabama I & II.
  1. Centre Career Center: Career Specialist Andre Mitchell will be at the library Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for assistance with your job search needs. 
  • Services include resume preparation, job search assistance, WIOA eligibility, on-the-job training, etc.
