Sand Rock boys finish sixth, girls 15th in Class 2A state track and field meet in Cullman

CULLMAN – The Sand Rock boys track and field team took sixth place at the Class 2A state meet over the weekend. The Lady Wildcats finished 15th.

The Wildcats earned a total of 41 points. Lafayette won the boys meet with 71.5 points, followed by Cold Springs (64.5) and Westminster of Oak Mountain (59).

The Wildcats were led by their 4×400 meter relay team, which topped the field with a time of 3:35.59. The 4×800 meter relay team finished third with a time of 8:42.14. The Wildcat boys were also 13th in the 4×100 (46.57).

Ben Dale topped the Wildcat boys in the individual events with a runner-up in the 400 meter (51.03). He also finished fourth in the 800 meter (2:04.00).

Jack Watson took third in the 300 meter hurdles (42.51). He was also 15th in the 400 meter (54.62).

Hunter Privett placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (19.02) and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (43.25). He was also 17th in the long jump (17-09.50).

Bryan East earned fifth in the javelin (119-07). He was also 14th in the discus (115-03).

Ben Bruce was 13th in the 800 meter (2:12.10), followed by Caleb Yoder in 16th (2:14.84). Gunner Cox claimed 17th in the 110 meter hurdles (20.25). He was also 20th in the 300 meter hurdles (55.94).

Austin Yoder came in 19th in the 400 meter (55.32) and Everett DeBoard finished 20th in the triple jump (35-03.25).

The Lady Wildcats were led by Brylaina Holcomb’s runner-up spot in the javelin (118-07).

The relay teams took fifth in the 4×400 (4:34.50) and ninth in the 4×100 (55.73).

Madison Camp came in 13th in the discus (77-06), 17th in the shot put (26-05.50), and 18th in the javelin (72-01). Natalie Lawless also earned 13th in the shot put (28-01.00).

Katelin Stiefel finished 16th in the 1600 meter (6:15.38) and 18th in the 800 meter (2:45.08).
