Gadsden State to host ribbon cutting for Truck Driving Program at Ayers Campus

Anniston, Ala. — The Gadsden State Community College Workforce Development Division is hosting a ribbon cutting for the new Truck Driving Program at the Ayers Campus.

The event will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the Cheaha Center on the Ayers Campus. Brief comments will be made by Dr. Kathy Murphy, Gadsden State’s president; Alan Smith, dean of Workforce Development; and Baisha Woody, director of Skills Training. Following comments, the ribbon cutting will take place and guests will be invited to experience the new truck driving simulator.

About the Truck Driving Program:

The Truck Driving Program teaches students to drive trucks and buses, delivery vehicles and other commercial vehicles. Classes begin every six weeks and are 240 hours. Documents required to participate in the program include proof of drug testing, a DOT physical and a motor vehicle report. Tuition is $3,500. Successful completers earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License. For information on funding to cover the cost of the program, contact the local Alabama Career Center.
